The NATIONAL CONSUMER AFFAIRS FOUNDATION  (NCAF) together with the IDEAL PARENTS & FAMILY FOUNDATION (IPFF) and the NATIONAL MOTHER’S DAY & FATHER’S DAY COUNCIL  headed by civic leader-journalist JONATHAN NAZARENO-NAVEA was responsible for successfully initiating and popularizing major family and consumer-related events in the Philippines and Asia-Pacific Region such as Mother's Day, Father's Day, Family Week, Grandparents Day, Consumers Welfare Month Celebration and Children's Month Celebration since 1980.  

                His ardent love for his late parents, as well as his crusade for ideal family living and parental respect  worldwide actually inspired Navea to promote the celebrations.    Navea, fondly called “Jake” by his peers,  is also acknowledged  for lobbying vital Presidential Proclamations and decrees aimed at providing  national significance to the events, notably Presidential Proclamation No. 266 issued by former PRESIDENT CORAZON C. AQUINO after the world-famous EDSA Revolution, superseding the similar decree signed by the latePRESIDENT FERDINAND E. MARCOS declaring Mother's Day every second Sunday of May and Father's Day every third Sunday of June.  He also persistently lobbied  Proclamation No. 60 issued by former Philippine PRESIDENT FIDEL V. RAMOS declaring Family Week every last week of September and Grandparents Day every first Sunday of September as official national events.

                The groups have expanded into the organization of the ASIA-PACIFIC AWARDS COUNCIL (APAC) which was he co-founded in 1993 with Japanese educator-civic leader Dr. SEIJI YII-KAGAWA, the late author URBANO S. REYES,  international evangelist  REV. SONIA Y. LIM, Chinese-Filipino broadcaster JERRY DY-GO and other noted individuals and civic leaders.

                APAC promotes the Asia-Pacific Cultural & Friendship Week and  has eventually honored outstanding achievers from various fields of endeavor, as well as consumers products and companies based in any of the countries within the Asia-Pacific Region and major parts of the world.   APAC’s projects include the GLOBAL and the ASIA-PACIFIC EXCELLENCE AWARDS,   GLOBAL BRAND and other related consumer recognitions.   (Log on at:  www.worldexcellenceawards.com  for   APAC events.)

                Navea is the former Editor of the Pacific Chronicle based in Saipan and Guam, USA and theincumbent Publisher-Editor of The Consumers Journal and Family Today.  He is  theincumbentProject Chairmanof NCAF, National Mother’s Day & Father’s Day Council,  and IPFF, andthe Operations Director of APAC.   The Asian Mother & Father Award was launched in Japan, Malaysia and  China  during  his Asian tour.    He also heads Mediapowerservices.com, the private corporate and marketing group of NCAF, which provides marketing services, such as PR & Advertising, Web Design & Hosting, Special Events, AVP & TVC Productions, Franchise Development, Publications and other corporate services, the business proceeds of which benefit the projects of the IPFF and NCAF, particularly the Youth Scholarship & Livelihood Projects and the Elderly Welfare Program.  IPFF also promotes the Crusade for Ideal Family Living &  Parental Respect worldwide.
